Santorini moments: part 2
When: May 7th – 11th, 2017
Where: Santorini, Greece
Stayed: Agali Houses, Firostefani
The great part about staying in Firostefani was that we could walk north to Imerovigli or south to Firá in 20-30 minutes. Our last few days in Santorini were spent exploring Firá and taking a catamaran trip out of Oia to visit neighboring islands and beaches. If you havent already, check out Santorini moments: Part 1!
We didn’t research or hear much about the town of Firá beforehand, so we went in without many expectations. The main street to get there is lined with adorable restaurants and hotels almost the entire way there.
During our catamaran trip there was too much wind so we weren’t able to see all the sights/beaches we had hoped. On the bright side, it gave us extra time to explore more of Oia that day. Here’s the package we through Get Your Guide. More thoughts about the trip below.
Once the catamaran trip was over, Jon thought it would be “fun" to climb the ~250 steps up from Amoudi Bay to the tip of Oia. You can also get up and down by donkey, but I’m told they aren’t treated very well, so if you’re into animal rights then it’s better to walk up yourself. PS – there’s supposed to be amazing cliff jumping in Amoudi Bay.
Other trip highlights + thoughts
- Having such yummy breakfast at Galini Cafe almost every day. If you go, try the crepes!
- Even with the wind, we definitely recommend the catamaran day trip. It was so much fun hanging out with a small group of people all day and getting to know them and their travel stories. The crew was so friendly and generous. They gave the girls jackets after we jumped into the water. They even shared their lit Spotify playlist with Jon haha. The home cooked lunch (grilled chicken and shrimp) was really great and there were unlimited drinks!
- Our last dinner in Santorini was at Argo Restaurant in Fira. We loved it and would definitely recommend it.
- I found it so cute how restaurants offered blankets if I looked cold. Such sweet hospitality!
That's a wrap on our Greece trip - I hope you enjoyed reading the series!
